Still Getting Stronger at 84: How Personal Training Supports Longevity

Bernard is an 84-year-old Expert Witness who came to DH Personal Training wanting to stay fit, active, and capable as he got older.

The Challenge

Before working with us, Bernard was aware that maintaining strength and mobility becomes harder with age.
Like many in their later years, there’s always the risk of slowing down, losing strength, and becoming less independent.

He knew that without the right support, staying fit into his 80s would be a real challenge.

Why They Nearly Didn't Start

Like many people, Bernard may have questioned how effective personal training would be at his age.
There’s often a concern around intensity, safety, and whether it’s “too late” to make a difference.

The Turning Point

Once he began training with Dan, everything shifted.
With consistent sessions and the right level of challenge, Bernard discovered that not only could he maintain his fitness — he could continue improving it.

Even when sessions felt tough in the moment, the long-term benefits became clear.

The Results

After 10 years of consistent training, Bernard has achieved:

✅ Maintained strength and fitness well into his 80s

✅ Improved resilience and ability to stay active

✅ Continued independence and quality of life

Here’s what he had to say:

“At aged 84 I do not think I would be as fit as I am if it had not been for my sessions with Dan over the last 10 years. I may walk out of the room feeling half dead! But once I've recovered I feel fit and active and able to live life.”

What This Means for You

If you’ve been wondering whether it’s too late to get stronger, fitter, or more active — Bernard is proof that it isn’t.
